Eutropius Has a Good Time Too

Meanwhile, the pompous pimp takes his feasting
Up to daylight, stinking of unmixed wine, scattering riches
To the mob to buy applause, and spending every day
In the theaters, wasting another man’s gold.

inter quae tumidus leno producere cenas
in lucem, foetere mero, dispergere plausum
empturas in vulgus opes, totosque theatris
indulgere dies, alieni prodigus auri.

—Claudian, In Eutropium 2.85–88
